Norbert Kox was born in 1945 in Wisconsin where he still
resides. As a young man he worked in a body shop and
belonged to a motorcycle gang called The Outlaws. He also
produced art ... painting and sculpting cars and canvases.
During a bad drug trip in 1975, Norbert had a powerful
vision of God. He gave away all his possessions and spent a
decade as a hermit. Convinced that the Christian church has
strayed from its mission, Norbert began to make paintings to
demonstrate these flaws. Since 1985 Norbert has studied
religion at the University of Wisconsin. His work was
included in the exhibition "Wind in My Hair" at the American
Visionary Art Museum in 1996 and also "Outsider Art: An
Exploration of Chicago Collections" at Intuit in 1996.
