Raymond Thunder-Sky was born in 1950 in California. His
father was Richard Brightfire Thunder-Sky the last
hereditary chief of the Mohawk tribe, and his mother was the
daughter of a Hungarian nobleman with direct ties to the
Hapsburgs. Raymond moved to Ohio with his family in 1961. He
enjoyed dressing up in clown costumes and touring the city
as well as drawing. Raymond had an obsessive style and
subject matter. He was interested in what we see everyday,
only slightly more studied and made surreal by the studying.
Raymond seemed to be creating his own technically beautiful
universe in his art, a place that is both being destroyed
and rebuilt at the same time. Raymond passed way October 29,
2004 after an extended illness.
